This was the first piece of fan fiction submitted to the Daredevil Resource.
The author is an enthusiastic young man by the name of Luke Clark. Luke argued the point to me, and others
in the site's guestbook, that DD never gets the respect as a fighter that he truly deserves. In this
dark possible future tale of a Daredevil driven mad by this lack of respect, our "second string" hero shows
that he's anything but second string! If you'd like Luke to send in some more
entries, or if you just want to tell him what you thought of his story, you can contact him at

Part One
Matt Murdock sat in his office and thought about his career.
Not his career as a lawyer, but his equally important career as the
masked vigilante Daredevil. Throughout his entire career as a superhero
he had been mocked by other more "powerful" heroes.
Wolverine sniffed the crisp forest air. He had recently
decided to go off on his own yet again and release his wildside that he so
often must repress. The smells of the forest flooded his nose as his
enhanced sense of smell picked up every last scent. Everything was just
the way it should be. Whack! A familiar club smacked him across the face,
and he looked up to see Daredevil standing before him. Whatever the
reason for this Wolverine did not care. He wanted an outlet for his
animalistic anger, and now he had found it. He leaped for Daredevil, his
claws out, but Daredevil's amazing agility allowed him to easily dodge the
blow, and using Wolverine's velocity against him threw him to the ground.
Daredevil quickly pinched Wolverine's torso. Part Two Peter Parker, a.k.a. Spider-Man, did not usually get to relax, but today was one of those days where he had just enough time to go out for a swing around New York. While taking a short rest stop on a building rooftop, his spidersense starts to go crazy. He turns around and his eyes behold Daredevil, Man Without Fear. "Hey there hornhead!" Spider-Man exclaimed. Why is my spidersense be going off so violently. Matt is one of my closest friends. Krack! Daredevil lands a carefully placed blow to Spiderman's chest breaking a few ribs. "What are you doing?" Spiderman exclaimed. "You'll never mock me again" Daredevil replied. "You're crazy!" Spiderman yelled. Maybe I have gone mad, but I'm still still enough to take you down. Spider-Man could tell it was useless to argue Daredevil had gone over the edge, lost all sanity. Spider-Man's great day had suddenly turned into the worst day of his life. He aimed his webshooters at Daredevil's leg and fired. Daredevil blocked the web with his club and began advancing on the already severely injured Spiderman. Daredevil picked Spider-Man up, but with his last ounce of strength Spider-Man flung Daredevil off the building. He started to crawl to the door leading down to the floor below the roof, but was stopped short when familiar red boot placed itself firmly on the ground in front of his face. "Did you really thing that would work. I simply swung back up with my club's grapple." "Why Matt?" "I had to stop the mocking." That was the last thing Spiderman ever heard as Daredevil landed a skillful blow to his skull which shattered it into thousands of tiny fragmented pieces. Part Three "If I truly want to be respected, I have to destroy the most powerful of them all: the Hulk." With this thought Matt started searching the the newspapers for recent sightings of the Hulk. He had been sighted last headed for Charleston, Wyoming. Matt took a plane to Charleston to confront the Hulk.
When he arrived all he had to do was follow the path of
destruction and rubble. He finally caught up to him in downtown
Charleston's main street, Clayton Street. Daredevil threw his club swiftly at
the Hulk's head. When it arrived at its destination The Hulk felt it just
enough for it to get Hulk's attention. Matt's glory quickly faded, however as he finally realized what he had become. He was now one of the villains he had fought all his life. Fuelled by hatred and jealousy he had murdered some of Earth's greatest protectors and one of his greatest friends. "I'm sorry, Peter," Matt whispered into the wind. "I'm so sorry."
