Franklin "Foggy" Nelson, on the other hand, has been Matt's best friend and roommate since they both went to "State" College together, and with very few interruptions, has also been his law partner since they both graduated together. While his pudgy partner and best friend often provides some of the comedy relief in the Daredevil title, his legal prowess should not be underestimated. He is one of the few lawyers ever cited as having won a case against our red-headed legal genius. In addition, on at least one occasion when Matt couldn't figure out a way to win a case for one of their clients, Foggy found a little known precedent which won the day for attorneys Nelson & Murdock. Foggy Nelson also did a stint as the DA in the Marvel world, and he was asked by Nick Fury and SHIELD to be on SHIELD's governing board. This isn't to say that Mr. Nelson finds the law to be easy. He's always worked ten times harder both in school and in their careers than Matt, however, we are given the impression that both are VERY accomplished barristers. Writers in the past have referred to Murdock as the inspiration of the team, and Foggy the perspiration. And when they are working together, they are a very formidable team indeed!
