Marvel 25th Anniv. French Portfolio Jean Frisano, Jean Frisano, David Mazzucchelli, John Romita/Frank Giacoia 1995 Editions Semic 25 images (21cm x 29.5cm [8.25"x11 5/8"]) in a red Spidey folder. These prints, on heavy textured paper, are covers from the French Marvel magazine Strange. The image to the left is Strange 110 (Feb 1979) by Frisano. Below (from L to R), Strange 127 (Jul 1980) by Frisano, Strange 199 (Jul 1986) by Mazzucchelli, and Strange 20 (Apr? 1971) by Romita/Giacoia. Thanks to French DD fan, Jerome, who confirmed that the images came from Strange, as well as sending along the beautiful image on the end by Thomas Frisano. The Marvel Laser Mats were done by a company called
Laser Mach. When I picked up my first laser mat,
I figured it was yet another "gimmick" by Marvel to sell more stuff, and I picked it up more
to keep my DD collection complete than out of admiration for the piece. In fact, I'd never seen a laser
mat up close. I'm happy to say, I was very pleased with the piece. So much so, that I've gone back and
since picked up the other two pieces that Laser Mach sells. When I met the folks from Laser Mach (a family business, by the way), I found out they also have a number of other items ranging from desk and wall sculptures to keychains. Everything they'd designed had a lot of care & quality put into it. I highly recommend checking out their site and seeing if there's something there that appeals to you. |
